UAL Graded Awards in Drawing

For students specializing in fine arts and design, drawing is a mandatory course that serves as an introduction to the world of art and a fundamental technical skill they must acquire. In the UAL Graded Awards in Drawing course, students will have the opportunity to improve their drawing skills under the guidance of two British contemporary artists. Throughout the course, students will create drawings that meet the standards of the UAL "Graded Awards in Drawing" project, and get recognition to their drawing skills. 

The six Graded Awards in Drawing are

  • Grade 1  Copying
  • Grade 2  Line
  • Grade 3  Tone
  • Grade 4  Colour
  • Grade 5  Composition 
  • Grade 6  Expression and Meaning

Certificates

The University of the Arts London’s subject specialists will assess student’s work and issue their grades -pass, merit or distinction. Upon completion of the award, UAL will provide student a certificate and a digital badge. This certificate holds similar weight to internationally recognized certificates in music or dance. For students, it represents a significant honor and a remarkable artistic achievement. Possessing this prestigious certificate will distinguish students when applying to the University of the Arts London or other leading international art schools.
